Step 1. Register
In order to access the Secure File Transfer (SFT) application, you must have an Exostar’s Managed Access Gateway account. If you are new to Exostar, you must register your organization and setup your user account.
Since you completed registration for your company, you are automatically assigned the Organization Administrator role. For more information on the different administrator roles and responsibilities, please see the MAG Admin Resources page.
2. Input your Email Address. Click Next.
3. Complete the Organization Information page. Click Next to submit the registration.
NOTE: A confirmation screen displays and you receive a confirmation email. After approval, users designated with Organization Administrator roles receive their account activation email.
Step 2. Activate Account
Once your organization registration is approved, you will receive an email titled “Activate your Exostar Account”, prompting you to complete the MAG account setup process.
2. Create and confirm your permanent password. Click Next.
3. Set-up your security questions and answers. Click Next to redirect to the MAG dashboard.
Step 3. Subscribe to Application
Once you successfully setup your MAG user account, you must subscribe your organization to Secure File Transfer (SFT). This is an Organization Administrator function.
2. Navigate to the Administration tab. Open the Subscribe to Application sub-tab.
3. Locate the Exostar Secure File Transfer row. Click the Subscribe to Application button.
4. On the Exostar Secure File Transfer Roles and Responsibilities page, either select an existing user for the SFT Administrator role, or input a new user. Click Next.
A confirmation screen displays and your request is sent to Exostar. You will receive an approval email once your access request is granted.
Step 4. Accept Terms and Conditions
Once you successfully activate your MAG account, subscribe your organization to the application and receive approval, you must accept the SFT Terms and Conditions. To accept the SFT Terms and Conditions, you must have the Organization Administrator or SFT Application Administrator role. Access to SFT is not possible for any users in your organization until Terms and Conditions are accepted.
NOTE: If the tile says Pending Terms, an Organization Administrator or SFT Application Administrator must accept terms.
2. Click Continue to view the SFT Terms and Conditions.
3. Review the Terms and Conditions. Check the box for I have read and agree to these terms and conditions.
4. Click Next to complete the process.
Step 5. Install Aspera Plug-in
The first login, once you are granted access to SFT, prompts you to download and install the IBM Aspera Connect plug-in. Please see the IBM Aspera Connect User Guide for download instructions. The download file is provided directly from IBM; please see www.ibm.com/aspera/connect/ for more information.
2. When installation is complete, refresh your browser window to check whether or not Aspera Connect installed successfully.
If it has not installed successfully, or if your system does not support Java, click the Download the installer link to access the Aspera Connect download page (www.ibm.com/aspera/connect/).
From here, you can download the Aspera Connect installer for your specific operating system.
For users experiencing issues downloading and launching the IBM Aspera Connect plug-in, to utilize the Secure File Transfer (SFT) functionality.

Step 6. Access Application
Once you successfully setup your MAG user account and download the Aspera Plug-in, you can access the SFT application.
2. Input your Password. Click Next.
3. On the MAG Dashboard, locate the Secure File Transfer (SFT) tile. Click Launch to open the application.
