Exostar’s Managed Microsoft 365 Roles and Responsibilities

Sponsor: The sponsor organization is the owner of the secure enclave.
- Member: Users from the sponsor organization are invited to teams as members. This is the standard Microsoft member role.
- Team Manager: Team managers perform overall management of a team, including team configuration and membership.
- Sponsor Administrator: Sponsor administrators are responsible for oversight and management of their organization’s enclave in Teams. The sponsor administrator’s primary functions are to create teams and manage partner access.
Partner: A partner organization is an organization that has been authorized by the sponsor to collaborate in the sponsor’s secure enclave. The role given to a partner user is determined by the user’s authentication source.
- Guest: External partner users that authenticate via Azure B2B are invited to teams as guests. This is the standard Microsoft guest role.
- Member: External partner users that authenticate using an Exostar-managed identity are invited to teams as members. This is the standard Microsoft member role.
