Certification Assistant Import/Export Data

Certification Assistant provides the ability to import and export data directly from the application. As an existing PIM user, you can export your existing NIST SP 800-171 data and import into Certification Assistant Standard. This does require you to access the NIST Form Details page in PIM, and create a .csv file via the Reports drop down menu.

Import PIM Data

Please follow the steps below to complete the process:

1. Access PIM and perform an export of your existing NIST data via the Form Details page.

NOTE: This should produce a .csv file. For instructions on completing data export in PIM, please see the Form Reports page.

2. Click the Import/Export button from the Help & Profile section on the main dashboard.

3. Click Got File! and upload the file via the Choose File button.

NOTE: When the file successfully uploads, a confirmation message displays.

4. Click Continue.

5. Select the radio button for one of the following import options:

  • Yes, Overwrite current CMMC Control Status (maintain the audit trail)
  • No, if there is a CMMC Control Status, do not change it

6. Click Begin Final Import to complete the process.

Your PIM data is now imported to Certification Assistant and you can click the Exostar logo in the upper left corner to return to the Home Page.

Export Certification Assistant Data

Certification Assistant provides options to export your information into two formats: NIST 800-171 or CMMC.  You can Import Certification Assistant data (the same export formats), or use the Exostar’s Partner Information Manager (PIM) data format. Please follow the steps below to export data from Certification Assistant:

1. From the Certification Assistant Main Dashboard, select the Import/Export button from the bottom of the screen.

2. Select the desired format from the export drop down list.

3. Click the Export button.

NOTE: An Excel formatted document will be downloaded.  You may update the spreadsheet file, but refrain from editing the grey fields. Only yellow fields are editable, if you intend to import the file back into Certification Assistant.

I = Implemented, N = Not Implemented, A = Partially Implemented, and E = Not Applicable
